About Me

I initially trained as a social worker in Germany before qualifying as a counsellor and Gestalt Therapist in Ireland and London. Since then I have worked in a wide range of settings in Germany, Ireland and England.

This included a women's refuge, a therapeutic family project, paediatric and special care baby units of a large teaching hospital and the staff counselling service in a hospital.

I currently work part time at Ipswich Hospital in a specialist post to support children living with or bereaved through a parent's cancer. 2 days a week I work privately as a counsellor/psychotherapist with individuals and families.

I have always been drawn to humanistic approaches to therapy.

My initial therapy training has been in Gestalt Therapy. Over time I have been influenced by a number of other approaches, particularly attachment based therapies ( Dan Hughes and Kim Golding in particular), Eriksonian Hypnotherapy, Psychosynthesis, Transactional Analysis, Systemic Family therapy as well as creative therapy approaches such as Art Therapy.

My therapeutic work is influenced by my training and professional experience as well as my life experience. I strongly believe that any therapeutic model is less important than the personal qualities of the therapist and the quality of the relationship that is built between client and therapist.

I see therapy as a creative process and I draw on whatever tools may be helpful – we may just talk or I may use creative techniques like art / visualisation etc.
