The Gestalt approach in counselling, is based on the belief that all human beings have an in-built need to feel balanced, to live in harmony with their environment.
As our environment and life itself is constantly changing, “good mental health” is seen as an individual’s ability to respond and adapt creatively to these changes.
Although we all have the ability to do this, unresolved feelings from the past or worries about the future can get in the way: we can’t see what life has to offer in the present.
This may prevent us from finding solutions for present problem:
we might feel “stuck” at a particular point or we might find we make the same mistakes all over again….
